Yvan Sagnet is an Italian activist who defends the human rights of migrants. His organisation NoCap (no caporaloto) brings migrants out of the mafia-controlled ghettos, where an estimated 500,000 people live far from civilisation in deplorable and undignified conditions, exploited as labourers for the Italian agricultural crops. Yvan Sagnet offers these people fair work contracts, decent housing and help with their integration. In February 2017, President Sergio Mattarella named him a Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. In Milo Rau’s film “THE NEW GOSPEL”, Yvan Sagnet plays the role of Black Jesus.
