Michael GENNER

Michael GENNER was born in 1948 in Vienna and is an Austrian political activist. He was a board member of “Spartakus” from 1970 to 1972, a pro-youth organisation that fought against reformatories. In 1973, he co-founded the European cooperative Longo maï.
In 1989, he became a legal advisor for asylum seekers in Vienna and since 1993 he has continued this work with Asyl in Not, an NGO of which he became president in 2004. He is a tireless advocate for the rights and interests of refugees and migrants. He is a laureate of the Austrian League for Human Rights (2011). He is the author of Verleitung Zum Aufstand / Encouragement to Revolt, (Mandelbaum-Verlag, 2012).
